Kapa II (28.06.2014)

On the second day of Kapa I was expecting a very fun course as it was set by Indulis Peilans, in my opinion, one of the two best Latvian middle distance course setters. Instead I got served a short long distance where running capacity and route choices were decisive.
1st control was the same as my club mate Mikus Purins (M20) who started at the same minute as me, so we had a good speed there.
Took the wrong route choice to 2nd as I thought that marsh would be very wet, the same as day before. I was wrong and also had to climb a little higher on the hill right before control area.
Also firther on I didn't get a good feeling in the terrain and very often took bad route choices that I executed badly - 6th and 8th are good example of that. Almost made a big mistake to 7th but a friend called me to the control there.
The rest was just running contest even if I managed to detour from the straightest route to 14th.
Only 13th place in the day, 6:08 behind Jonas Vytautas Gvildys, who took over the lead in overall standings from Rudolfs Zernis. I fell back to 10th place.
