Klubu stafetes (02-09-2018)

1st leg for team Ozons 1.
As expected, very fast start. First trouble already to 7th where followed compass and somehow ran in the wrong direction. No reason for panic but to the next 8th control I could not understand the vague contours and again kept wrong direction. Was a leader again at the spectators control, but misread the following leg and started running wrong. As nobody followed, I understood the problem and turned in the right direction. Panicked and lost more time when nobody seemed to make any sense of the situation. Had to push hard afterwards to catch the leaders and did it three legs later. After that more difficult orienteering in greener terrain followed and for some reason I felt more comfortable there. Possibly a better forking + others making mistakes let me escape from others and a physically strong finish extended my lead to 1:05.
Happy about my leg result, but technical performance was one of the worst ones this season. Good wake-up call before more important relays this month that orienteering always comes first.
Team finished 6th but with far too many big mistakes to be really satisfied about the result.
